Tecate's contemporary era begins in 1914 with the arrival of the San Diego-Arizona Railroad by Mr. Jonh Spreckles.

The Tijuana-Tecate road has a length of 71,418 kilometers and was built at the beginning of the 20th century (between 1909 and 1915).

Contemporary Tecate starts from the category of sub-delegation, delegation and finally municipality of Tecate, the first municipal president being Mr. Eufrasio Santana Sandoval in 1953, from that moment on the different industries that give rise to the growth of the city are opened. it is the heart of Baja California.

The Tecate station marked the origin of the industrial and urban development of the city, contributing to the formation of the Tijuana - Tecate industrial corridor. Thanks to its existence, the wine, oil, beer, malt, coffee and cement industries were born and developed, among others.

Rancho La Puerta was founded by Edmond and Deborah Szekely in 1940, recognized as a quintessential fitness and spa destination.

For its part, La Puerta Foundation has stood out for actively supporting environmental, social and educational projects in the Tecate area and the border zone, including the preservation of wildlife habitats and native plants in danger within this region.
